BROWARD COUNTY, FL – (January 28, 2019) –Coast to Coast Legal Aid of South Florida (CCLA) is pleased to announce that Marta Estevez, Esq. has been promoted to Chief Innovation Officer.
The Chief Innovation Officer role was created as a way to advance sustainable and new ideas and promote leadership within CCLA in an effective and meaningful way. Ms. Estevez will be responsible for idea development and the efficient and transparent implementation of innovative projects and processes for the organization.
“It is important to recognize this new role for its intended purpose, to innovate and drive workforce development and dynamics,” said Patrice Paldino, Executive Director of CCLA. “Marta brings a long-demonstrated level of enthusiasm and initiative to the team, highlighting inspired and constructive ways to go about things. She has volunteered for leadership positions on numerous internal task force committees over the years and takes on this role alongside her full time legal work with the Family Law team. I am thrilled to see the role formalized and supported by our Board of Directors.”
Estevez is hitting the ground running, announcing a Go Green initiative as her first project. The goal is to move to a paperless environment, already supported by E-filing requirements in the 17th Judicial Circuit. Other initiatives under consideration include a recycling program and a healthy employee program.
Estevez has practiced family law with CCLA since 2005. She is a frequent presenter on the topic of domestic violence, sexual violence and stalking at continuing legal education (CLE) seminars and on college campuses throughout south Florida. She also conducts community outreach programs addressing the issues of intimate partner violence within underserved communities, specifically addressing Hate Crimes and Stalking. In addition, she is a member of the Broward Domestic Violence Council and the Broward Victim’s Rights Coalition, having previously served as a board member for both, and is an appointed member of the Broward County Human Rights Board.
Estevez received a J.D. from Nova Southeastern University School of Law in 2004 where she served as a Law Student Advisor and was active with the Student Bar Association; and graduated with a B.S. degree from the University of Florida in 2000. She has been recognized with the 2014 Community Leader Award, presented by the Broward Domestic Violence Council; the 2016 Volunteer of the Quarter Award, presented by the Pembroke Pines Police Department; and the 2017 Volunteer of the Year Award recipient, presented by the Broward Victim’s Rights Coalition.
