A native of Finland, Heidi Vainio has always loved learning languages, travelling, and being able to communicate with people of different cultures. She earned a degree in Business Administration and Internaional Marketing, and spent her career in Finland working in marketing and the export of leather and fur fashions. She worked with designers and agents around the world and traveled to international fairs and exhibitions.
After moving to the United States, Heidi lived in New Orleans, Annapolis and Parkland – places as different as entire countries in Europe. While in Maryland, she went back to college and earned a paralegal certificate. She fell in love with the law and embarked on a second career as a paralegal. After initially volunteering, she began working with CCLA in 2005 in their newly created position of Administrative Assistant.
Heidi has never looked back. She is proud to be part of, and contributing to, the work that CCLA does to help victims of domestic violence, the indigent, and those who otherwise would not have access to legal services. She is a key member of the CCLA team and is valued for her ability to keep the program running smoothly — from case management and tracking to managing reporting and compliance for the organization.
