Board Member Spotlight: Rebecca Rodriguez

Rebecca A. Rodriguez is of counsel in the firm’s Fort Lauderdale and Miami offices. Her practice focuses on state and federal litigation, appeals, and general compliance matters for corporate clients, financial institutions, and government entities.  Rebecca currently serves as special counsel to the Emerald Coast Utilities Authority. She joined the joint Board of Directors for the Legal Aid Programs in Broward in January 2020.

Rodriguez currently is pro bono appellate counsel with Legal Aid in a matter pending before Florida’s Fourth District Court of Appeal. The matter is set for appellate oral argument in March 2020.

“Just take one case. One pro bono case won’t make or break your practice but it just might change someone’s entire life,” says Rodriguez.

Rodriguez was born and raised in Miami. After attending Coral Reef Senior High in Miami, she attended the University of Florida in Gainesville, where she received her bachelor’s degree in anthropology. She then earned her master of science in criminal justice from Florida International University.

Rebecca attended the Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law. While in law school, Rebecca served as the associate executive editor for the ILSA Journal of International and Comparative Law. She was also awarded The Florida Bar Gift Award, the book award in Antitrust Law, the SunTrust Bank Florence Bayuk Trust Scholarship for two consecutive school years, and the Florida Association of Realtors Education Foundation Scholarship.

Rebecca was recently recognized as a 2020 Top & Comer in Litigation by the South Florida Legal Guide.  She is also a recognized Rising Star in Business Litigation from 2017 to present by Super Lawyers.
