Health, Safety & Stability

Coast to Coast Legal Aid of South Florida (CCLA) provides access to justice and free civil legal assistance to eligible residents of Broward County. We protect and defend the legal rights of families, seniors, and underserved populations such as people who are unhoused or at risk of being homeless, victims of domestic violence and elder abuse, and persons living with health issues. We work to achieve lasting social and economic freedoms for our community by focusing on the basic needs of health, safety, and stability.

In addition to our legal services, CCLA conducts outreach to educate and inform residents and community providers about legal issues and legal rights. For more information about outreach, or to request a presentation at your organization, please click here.

Health

Access to basic necessities:

Healthcare (Medicaid, Medicare, Affordable Care Act)
Housing (foreclosure, eviction, unsafe housing, subsidized housing)

Safety

Ensuring and meeting safety needs:

Domestic violence, stalking, harassment, child abuse or neglect
Child support, divorce
Seniors (elder abuse, exploitation, scams and frauds)

Stability

Supporting economic security:

Benefits (SNAP, NSLP, SSI, disability, FEMA)
Unemployment compensation, senior caregiving
Consumer protection (fraud, predatory lending, unfair debt collection practices)
