Coast to Coast Legal Aid of South Florida Names Katianna Mazard as Title III Project Director

BROWARD COUNTY, FL – (March 28, 2019) –Coast to Coast Legal Aid of South Florida (CCLA) is pleased to announce that Katianna Mazard, Esq. has been named Title III Project Director. In this capacity, she is responsible for overseeing CCLA’s provision of free legal services to people over the age of 60 in Broward County.

Title III programs are funded by the Older Americans Act (OAA) of 1965 in response to concerns by policymakers about a lack of community social services for older persons. These funds are allocated locally in Broward County through the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) to organizations providing services to Seniors, such as CCLA’s Senior Citizen La Project.

“Katianna is the perfect person to fill this important role. Her expertise in Senior Law subjects, combined with her dedication to helping Seniors live vibrant, independent lives is unmatched,” said Patrice Paldino, Executive Director of CCLA. “The 412,750 Seniors living in Broward County benefit greatly from our legal programs made possible by Title III Project funding, and we look forward to continuing our successful partnership with ADRC.”

As Supervising Attorney for the Senior Citizen Law Project at CCLA, Mazard leads a team of eleven who represent low-income vulnerable adults age 60 and older in various areas of law, such as Landlord-Tenant, Foreclosure Defense, Consumer Law, Immigration, Abuse, Exploitation, Health and Public Benefits. She and her team served nearly 2,000 clients in 2018.

Mazard serves as Co-Chair of the Florida Housing Umbrella Group (HUG), is a member of the Office of the State Attorney for the 17th Judicial Circuit Elder Task Force/Senior Services Committee Member, is a Board Member of Crisis Housing Solutions, a nonprofit organization, and a member of the Broward County Bar Association, the Haitian Lawyers Association, and the TJ Reddick Bar Association.

Mazard earned a Juris Doctor (JD) Degree from Nova Southeastern Shepard Broad School in 2003. She graduated from the University of South Florida’s Political Science Honors Program with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1999. Mazard is Haitian-American and speaks Creole.
