Paul B. Yune’s legal career began as a law clerk for the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia. After his clerkship, Paul relocated back to Florida where he served as an Assistant Public Defender for the 20th Judicial Circuit and then for the 10th Judicial Circuit.
During his time with the 20th and 10th Circuits, he worked as the lead attorney in the Domestic Violence Unit where he gained insight into the dynamics of defending and prosecuting crimes of domestic abuse as well as seeking remedies to end the cycle of violence.
His experience in handling domestic violence cases ultimately led him to Coast to Coast Legal Aid of South Florida to lay the foundation for its Rights in Systems Enforced (RISE) program which asserts and enforces the rights of victims of domestic violence and senior citizen victims of crime in the criminal cases against their abusers. In 2023, the RISE Program received the 31st Annual Outstanding Program of the Year Award by the Broward Domestic Violence Council. Paul also received the Broward Victim Right’s Coalition 2023 Janita Lee Victim Assistance Professional Award. Paul is an active member of both the Broward Domestic Violence Council and the Broward Victim Right’s Coalition.
Now, as a Supervising Attorney for the Family Law and Victims of Crime Unit with Coast to Coast Legal Aid of South Florida, Paul oversees the Unit while also representing victims in intimate partner injunction cases and supervises attorneys and paralegals providing holistic, trauma-informed, legal services to victims in the Broward County. Paul regularly conducts trainings about victims’ rights in Florida under Florida Constitution Art. I, § 16, also known as Florida’s “Marsy’s Law”. Paul is active in the community, forging relationships with victim advocates, law enforcement, prosecutors, and other social service agencies with the goal of obtaining justice for victims of crime and providing them with the support they need for continued safety and security.
