Director, Senior Citizen Law Project

Sarah Barker is the Director of the Senior Citizen Law Project at Coast to Coast Legal Aid of South Florida (CCLA). The Project provides free civil legal services to low-income, and otherwise eligible, seniors 60 years age and older, caregivers for seniors, and grandparent caregivers age 55 and older. In 2009, Sarah joined the Senior Citizen Law Project as a staff attorney. In 2019, Sarah became the Project’s Supervising Attorney. Previously, she interned with CCLA’s Family Law Unit.

Sarah represented senior clients in mortgage foreclosure defense, condominium foreclosure defense, consumer debt defense, bankruptcy, elder abuse and exploitation, and complex real estate fraud litigation. As Director of the Project, Sarah is responsible for overseeing the unit’s provision of free legal services for seniors in various areas of law, such as landlord-tenant, foreclosure defense, consumer law, immigration, abuse, exploitation, health, and public benefits. Sarah is from Rochester, New York. She received a B.A. in Political Science from St. John Fisher College in 2004 and her J.D. from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center in 2008. She is a member of the Florida Bar and New York Bar.
