Profile in Good: Dacia Medley
Dacia Medley is a Paralegal and Intake Specialist at Legal Aid Service of Broward County. Dacia has served as a paralegal and intake specialist in the Broward Lawyers Care Pro Bono Project since May 2019, helping clients seeking assistance with housing, consumer, and family law issues. Before her current position, Ms. Medley had volunteered with Legal Aid conducting intake interviews. Dacia is an experienced paralegal skilled in critical thinking, public speaking, and writing and has personally completed intake interviews and opened files for over 1,400 clients.
Prior to joining Legal Aid Service of Broward County, Dacia worked with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Palm Beach and Martin Counties, first as a mentor and later as Outreach and Recruitment Coordinator. At Big Brothers Big Sisters, Ms. Medley designed and implemented weekly lesson plans tailored to assist each child in various subject areas. She also promoted the mentoring program, led volunteer and mentor orientations and training, and served as a liaison between parents and educational institutions.
Ms. Medley has served as Vice President and Co-President of the Pre-Law Society of the Harriet Wilkes Honors College and as a mentor for community inclusion at Florida Atlantic University.
Dacia holds a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in Political Science from FAU’s Harriet Wilkes Honors College. Dacia is an aspiring lawyer and is currently applying to go to law school.
