When Mayra moved in with her aging mother to help care for her after a stroke, she never imagined she’d soon be facing eviction. As her mother’s full-time caregiver, Mayra had given up her job to ensure her mother received the daily care she needed — from preparing meals to managing medications to helping her walk again.
But when their landlord sold the property, Mayra and her mother received an eviction notice. With limited income and few options, Mayra felt helpless. Her mother’s health depended on stability, yet they had nowhere to go.
“CCLA was the answer to my prayers,” Mayra said. “They didn’t just protect our home — they gave us hope.”
Today, Mayra’s mother continues to recover in a safe, stable home. Mayra says she’s learned that asking for help is part of caring too.
Each day, caregivers like Mayra give their hearts to their loved ones — and CCLA is proud to provide the legal support they need to keep their families safe, stable, and secure.
