John Offerdahl To Be Honored at Legal Aid Programs in Broward’s Bridge to Justice Breakfast

John Offerdahl To Be Honored at Legal Aid Programs in Broward’s Bridge to Justice Breakfast

Legal Aid programs in Broward County, Legal Aid Service of Broward and Coast to Coast Legal Aid of South Florida will jointly hold the 10th Annual Bridge to Justice breakfast fundraiser on Friday, June 3, 2022, at Signature Grand (6900 W State Rd 84, Davie).

The event serves to honor the bridge between the legal and business communities as both organizations work cooperatively with more than 120 area non-profits to protect and defend the legal rights of more than 20,000 children, seniors, veterans, homeless persons, domestic violence victims, unaccompanied immigrant minors, and persons living with HIV/AIDS each year.

During the event, the organizations will honor entrepreneur, philanthropist, and former all-pro Miami Dolphins linebacker John Offerdahl with the Bridge to Justice Award. This award recognizes and highlights the important work an individual has done to build connections and resources in Broward County.

Offerdahl’s dedication to the community started in 2010 with the annual Gridiron Grill-Off Food & Wine Festival which benefits foster care and family homeless agencies in Broward County. His foundation has continued to support the community and in 2015, launched Home Team Advantage Restorative Housing which provides housing for vulnerable families seeking relational restoration, self-sufficiency, and homeownership victory.

Offerdahl was also fast to respond to community needs during the pandemic by launching the GRATEful-Fresh Meal Program April of 2020. Since then, the organization has provided over 1 million meals to first responders, healthcare workers on the frontline, vulnerable families, and seniors at home.

During the breakfast program, guests will also hear from Pulitzer Prize-Winning Author Gilbert King who will share his dynamic perspectives blending his gift for narrative with his knowledge of civil rights cases. King has written about race, civil rights, and the death penalty for the New York Times, the Washington Post, and The Atlantic, and he is a contributor to The Marshall Project, a nonprofit news organization covering the U.S. criminal justice system. King will also unveil his most recent project during the program.

The annual Bridge to Justice Breakfast serves to increase awareness and raise critical funds for Legal Aid programs in Broward. The morning program will spotlight the vital work of these organizations to assist vulnerable and underserved populations in Broward.  Proceeds from the event will benefit the more than 20,000 at-risk individuals and families served by Legal Aid Service of Broward County and Coast to Coast Legal Aid of South Florida each year.

The breakfast begins at 7:15 a.m. with coffee and networking and a breakfast and program starting at 8:00 a.m.  Individual tickets are $80 and available by going to https://bit.ly/BTJ2022. For more information visit: browardlegalaid.org/10th-bridge-to-justice
