Story of Justice: Daniela*

Daniela is a 14-year old girl with a long history of abuse and neglect. Ultimately she was removed from her parents’ home and placed with relatives to live. Shortly after she was placed, her relatives also began abusing her and kicked her out of their home saying she had “bad behavior.” 

A 14-year old child living on the street is easy prey. Daniela became the victim of unscrupulous traffickers who took advantage of her and put her through unspeakable trauma. She lived under the control of her traffickers for several months before she was found and recovered. Naturally she was extremely traumatized. Daniela had been trafficked all over Florida and was facing juvenile delinquency charges, was wanted for questioning by the FBI, and also was suffering from severe mental health issues. 

In addition to providing zealous advocacy for their clients, attorneys also give counsel and advice. Daniela’s attorney developed a rapport with her and counselled her and provided support so she wasn’t all alone during the extensive legal process.

Daniela is doing much better now. She has the medication and services she needs and is well on her journey to healing from the severe trauma she suffered.
